A late season snow fall that began last week-end and continued through to Tuesday has finally ended. I had just cleaned the patio the Friday before, preparing to bask in the 20 deg. C sunshine. The pond had already been active for two weeks and now lies frozen, but the sound of flowing water indicates it has not refrozen completely – the tsukubai’s flow is shrouded in ice. A few plants had been sprouting, the clusters of Allium “Purple Sensation” already had 10 cm (4″) leaves – hopefully now all protected under the snow.
